TenPoint Crossbows has strived to perfect and upgrade technologies in manufacturing horizontal bows for three decades. It continually toils to be innovative and provide reliable performance to create a positive edge for hunters who want to embrace change. The company offers a wide variety of horizontal bows, from premium to value-priced. If you want to get into crossbow hunting or upgrade an older bow, it would be worth checking out the extreme value and proven performance of the Venom X.
The Venom X is the lightest and lowest-priced crossbow in the company’s lineup that has a built-in ACUslide for cocking and de-cocking the bow. Besides the convenience and ease of use, the Venom X is extremely lightweight at 6.9 pounds. The forward-limb design is intuitive to use, and the bow is compact, measuring just 9.75 inches wide when cocked and 32.5 inches long. The compact profile allows for greater mobility and more shot opportunities in the field by reducing the chance for cam or limb contact in the stand or blind.

This value-driven bow is not short on horsepower, shooting an honest 390 fps. The 12.5-inch power stroke is efficient. Anyone with an older model crossbow will be astonished at the speed and how it flattens arrow trajectory, improves accuracy, and increases kinetic energy.
Value-wise with a starting price of $1,050, the price pales in comparison to other crossbows with specialized features. Top-end crossbows retail for over $3,000, making the Venom X a winner in value and performance.
Convenience
The Venom X is the most economical crossbow in the TenPoint lineup, equipped with an ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system. No rope cocking device or extreme muscle power is required to cock the crossbow and get ready to shoot. The ACUslide is built into the butt stock and works with the trigger box to safely cock the bow with little effort. The bow has a 215-pound draw weight that is reduced to the point where a child can safely and easily crank the bow to the cocked position. Not only is the cocking and de-cocking system easy to use, but it provides a silent operation, allowing for stealthy application when needed.
The cocking handle can be released at any time during the cocking and de-cocking process without losing control. This is a safety feature as much as anything and cannot be ignored. Once you use a bow with de-cocking capability, you will never want to return to a rope system or worry about discharging your bow at the end of a hunt.
Safety
The cocking system is tied to the trigger box, which is designed to seat the nock of your arrow. There is an indicator lever to show when the arrow is seated in the correct position. A manual safety is easy to operate and prevents trigger pull when engaged. An anti-dryfire prohibitor is built into the trigger box to ensure accidents that could be devastating to your bow do not happen. The crossbow is safe and has built-in insurance to protect your investment.
A stirrup is included on the front end of the bow to securely hold the bow in place while cocking or de-cocking. Stability is important for safety and ensures the trigger box will be cranked up the rail consistently, which adds to accuracy.
Trigger
While on the topic of trigger boxes, we would be remiss not to mention the 2-stage, S1 Trigger. The S1 is a serious upgrade with zero creep. The trigger uses a roller sear system for greater control and down-range accuracy. Find the target, engage the trigger, and have it break without moving the crossbow, which means consistent and accurate arrow placement.
Optic
Specialized Scope Struts offer a rock-solid optics base, increasing long-range accuracy. The struts add strength and durability to the optic and mount, helping to maintain zero in your scope. The beefed-up base helps prevent vibration and works to quieten the bow and reduce vibration. The struts are another example of the incredible technological advantages of a best-in-class crossbow.
TenPoint upgraded the scope included with the Venom X, and the Pro-View 400 scope adds to the accuracy and dependability of shot after shot. The scope features aimpoints out to 70 yards. It features an updated, enhanced reticle for a cleaner view and greater down-range accuracy. The reticle can be illuminated red or green, with different intensities for best vision in different light conditions.
The multi-coated glass provides great light transmission and a true color image. There is a focus dial to ensure a clear view of the reticle with or without glasses. Elevation and windage turrets make it easy to dial the scope in and use the calibrated reticle to select the shooting distance. A Picatinny rail makes it easy to mount the scope for optimal eye relief.
Quiet
The Venom X has a string-dampening system to reduce noise and vibration. The stock material and design also reduce vibration. Solid limb pockets for the split-limb design quiet the bow on the front end. An integrated string stop stops extra string movement fast. We already know about the scope struts, and when you put everything together, the Venom X is noticeably quiet and dead in hand.
The bow has a soft touch finish to increase grip and add another level of silence when being handled. The stock is available in Moss Green or Vektra camo.
Energy
The Venom X speed provides options and versatility for shooters by converting speed to kinetic energy. A 400-grain arrow flies at 390 fps but increasing the projectile’s weight will increase energy and penetration when hunting. Having speed to play with is always a great option.
Package
The Venom X is sold as a package, ready to head to the range for shooting. It comes with a Pro-View 400 scope, ACUslide cocking and de-cocking system, 3 Pro Elite 400 Carbon arrows, integrated string stop, bow hook, and quiver. There are field points to ensure nothing stops you from using the bow after taking it out of the box.
Axis Tripod
TenPoint recently released the Axis Tripod, designed for stability and maneuverability for hunters on the go or in a blind. The three-point leg design and angles use a much smaller footprint than others without compromising steadiness. The tripod features a clamp to firmly hold the forend of a crossbow, placing the weight directly over the legs. The clamp and stability allow you to leave your crossbow locked and ready to shoot without movement. It only takes a quarter turn of the clamp knob to loosen it for adjustments. The Axis is lightweight, collapses to 25 inches, and extends up to 40 inches tall. A built-in compass helps confirm the direction of shots when looking for a blood trail or recovering an arrow. A bubble level prevents shooters from canting their bow.
SEVR Titanium 1.75 Broadhead
The SEVR Ti 1.75 was designed for use with vertical or horizontal bows. It was developed to optimize penetration with a 1.75-inch cut diameter, swept-back blade angle, and a slap-cut that stretches beyond the 1.75-inch cut diameter. The Ti 1.75 is rear deployed with a one-piece machined titanium ferrule and precision-ground tip. The blades have a Lock-and-Pivot design that can move around bone and dense material without changing the arrow’s flight. A screw can be used to lock the blades in place for practice or unlock it to go hunting. www.sevrbroadheads.com
